Yamaha flutes have developed over decades of cooperation between the world's top flutists and the Yamaha team of designers and artisans.  The musicians described to us the elusive qualities they had always been searching for in an instrument but never had been able to find.  We set out to create those qualities.  It took time, but we succeeded in developing instruments that could please the greatest artists.  Everything we learned in perfecting those instruments has been passed along into the design of all our flutes.  Even our standard line flute can ultimately trace its origin back to the experiences and insights of the finest players of this century.  That's what makes our flutes so special.  That's what makes them Yamaha.

500 Series
Our Professional model flutes all feature the same refined design and high degree of hand-craftsmanship.  The only diiference between them is the materials with which they are made.  The 500 Series flutes are sterling silver with nickel-silver keys.
