Music Schools > Courses for Kids

We at Yamaha believe that regardless of economic or cultural background, given the proper educational opportunities with good teachers, excellent musicians can be brought up anywhere in the world.

The ultimate proof of appropriateness of the contents and methodology of an education system is the demonstration of its results.  Having such successful children, efficient in composing and performing, testifies to the validity of our educational activities.

As not all children are born with "natural talents." Yamaha does not focus its attention only on discovery of the gifted.  Rather than developing a handful of geniuses, Yamaha feels that it would be more significant to give a large number of children the opportunity to make their life richer and fuller by having them study music and appreciate the joy of music.

You will find that our music courses are tailored to the physical, intellectual, psychological and social needs of the student.  Skills are "layered" onto the students in a natural manner - much like the process through which we learn to speak.

For instance, students first get listen to a song, then they are taught to sing before learning how to play it.  Group lessons are also featured prominently here, because they provide opportunities not only for social interaction among students, but also for ensemble playing and other group music activities.

YAMAHA MUSIC SCHOOL  operates on the following principles:
The style and level of instruction is geared to both ability and development of the student.

The advantages of group training are given full play to create an enjoyable musical experience in a pleasant learning atmosphere.

Strong encouragement of the student's creativity will help achieve the goal of a comprehensive music education.

Little Notes
Little Notes is a music course specially tailored to ensure children learn music in a fun way.  The course contents are structured in such a way whereby the child is able to learn while at play.  Little Notes will be your child's first experience with music and music appreciation.

Music Wonderland

The rich music and interesting curricula designed for the course creates a conducive music learning environment for children; making their initial encounter with music learning fun and enjoyable.

The course combines the dynamism of music with physical and mental activities, which stimulates their musical senses and help prepare them for the varieties of music education ahead.

Yamaha Junior Course
Keyboard instruments are the best instruments for children to begin their music study with.  Because of the fixed layout of the keyboard, notes and sounds can be identified easily and accurately. Also, the important elements of music such as melody, harmony and rhythm can all be expressed by one child playing at the keyboard.

Piano School for Children

This course is designed specially for children who have minimum or no music background.  Conducted on a group basis, it aims to cultivate an appropriate level of musical skills and inculcate a comprehensive level of musical skills.  The course also prepares students for the Yamaha Achievement test and recognised overseas Music Examination Board Practical & Theory Grades.

Children's Electone Course

Using the basic learning process-   Hearing,  Singing , Playing, your child develops musical knowledge of tones and methods of expressions, which will lead to skills in arranging and improvising.  Through the electone with its double-manual keyboard, bass pedals, auto-rhythm facility and array of musical instrument sounds, children acquire basic understanding of musical qualities of various instruments, such as the piano, the trumpet, the violin, etc.

Junior Guitar Course
The Junior Guitar Course is designed for children between the ages of 7 and 11 years old.  Corresponding with their physiological development, this is the most appropriate time to introduce your child to guitar playing as it develops finger dexterity and musical sense, and provides an avenue for your child to express himself creatively.
